Spotlight Athletes of the Week
FOREST CITY, Iowa - Waldorf Athletics is proud to announce this week's Spotlight Athletes of the Week: Marissa O'Connor (women's outdoor track and field) and Brunelson Dominique (men's outdoor track and field).
O'Connor, a sophomore from Murietta, Calif., had a 27 second PR and broke the school record by 19 seconds in the 3k steeplechase at the Mustang Distance Carnival & Open.
Coach Janna Langrell said, "I am super proud of Marissa- this is a record I have known she is capable of breaking for a while now, and she ran a smart race. I am excited to watch her continue to lower this record. She had the best-looking water jumps in the field and navigated the barriers with ease. As she runs this race more, we will begin to see what she is truly capable of."
Dominique, a junior from Lauderhill, Fla., ran a 52.93 in the 400m, earning a PR, in the Dick Young Invitational.
Coach Janna Langrell said, "Brunelson ran well this weekend. I am happy to see him putting up the times I knew he was capable of running in the 400m, and I am excited to see how he progresses through the last few weeks of the season. He has grown so much as an athlete the last three years."
The Waldorf Track and Field teams head to the Red Raider Open at Northwestern College in Orange City, Iowa on Thursday, April 17.
