Waldorf’s Eliza McKown Qualifies for Nationals in 800m

JOLIET, Ill. — Eliza McKown continues to make history for Waldorf University track and field. The standout middle-distance runner secured her spot at the NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships with a stellar performance in the women's 800-meter run at the Fighting Chance Invite hosted by the University of St. Francis.

McKown clocked in at 2:13.41 to finish fifth overall in a highly competitive field, not only punching her ticket to Nationals but also rewriting the Waldorf record books—again. The time marks her latest school-record performance, highlighting a season of consistent growth and excellence.

"I am proud of Eliza and what she has accomplished this season so far," said Waldorf head coach Janna Langrell. "She bought into training and trusted that she is set to peak at the right moment. Her unwavering faith in God and her work ethic are what has fueled her success this season. She is progressing as expected and I'm looking forward to watching her compete next week at Nationals."

McKown's qualification adds to an already impressive resume, and her continued improvement makes her a name to watch as she heads to the 2025 NAIA Outdoor National Championships. The meet will take place May 21–23 at Indiana Wesleyan University in Marion, Indiana.
