Men’s Golf wraps up spring season at GPAC Championships
DAKOTA DUNES, S.D. – The Warrior men's golf came home with an eighth place finish after teeing it up with 10 other teams at the GPAC Championships on Monday and Tuesday.
Waldorf finished with a 54-hole total of 950 (330-317-303) to finish just shy of Mount Marty's 945 after a final-round charge. Hastings earned the spot atop the podium, finishing at 22-over-par 886, 13 shots clear of second-place Morningside.
Individual medalist honors were claimed by Hastings' Max Nielsen who finished at 217 (+1) over the three rounds, edging teammate Taiki Sugawara by two for the title. Nielsen and the Broncos receive automatic bids to the NAIA National Championship May 12-15 at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois.
Jacob Wiersma was the top finisher for the Warrior side, finishing in a tie for 21st place individually. Wiersma rebounded from a first-round 84 (+12) with matching 74s over the final two rounds, and his par-4 scoring was tied for the eighth-best in the field.
Also contributing was junior Luke Fenner. Fenner posted a final round 75 (+3) to move up to 28th on the leaderboard after rounds of 79-81. Fenner also garnered the sixth-best par-5 scoring total at three-under-par.
Christian Prambs followed closely, shooting 84-75-78 (+21) to finish T29. Prambs' par-3 performance was tied for the eighth-best in the field at two-over-par.
Rounding out the Warrior effort was Carlos Filipczak, who wrapped up his junior campaign with a four-over-par 76 during his final round that featured four birdies.
Head coach Mark Clouse commented, "I was proud of the second day performance of our team. A solid round three put us in the mix with some of the best teams in the country. Jacob has a strong performance in rounds two and three that really helped him vault up the leaderboard. Luke and Christian have been two of our most consistent players this season, and they both had significant contributions to our team score, as expected."
Looking ahead, Waldorf's Men's Golf returns a strong nucleus of players for the 2026-27 team and looks to build off of the success of the past year. The team won three events in the fall and had an adjusted scoring average of 315.8.
