Warriors Find Success in Last Indoor Meet of the Season
MANKATO, MN - The Warriors competed in the last regular season indoor meet this weekend in Makato, MN at the Ted Nelson Classic. The men claimed 12 personal records and 4 top-10 rankings. The women claimed 11 personal records, 1 top-10 ranking, 1 school record, and 1 national qualifier.
For the men, two sprinters PR'd in the 60 meters. Freshman Blayson Dolney ran a time of 7.81 and sophomore Rocky Ketchum ran a time of 7.50. There were several personal records in the 200 meters. Dolney, Sunel Fernandez, Ketchum, Andreaz Ramos, and Michael Williams also reached new heights with times of 24.99, 23.24, 24.92, 24.42, and 24.41 respectively. Fernandez's time of 23.24 put him in the record books at 4th all-time.
Fernandez also PR'd in the 400 meters with a time of 53.56. Sophomore Robert Beal claimed a new personal best in the 400 as well with a time of 53.24.
For distance there were two personal bests. In the 600 meters, Dolney broke new ground with a time of 1.27.98. This time put him in the record books at 6th all-time. Freshman Isaiah Cote accomplished a 2nd all-time finish with a time of 2.46.72.
On the field side of things, sophomore Marquis Simpson reached a new personal record in long jump with a jump of 6.25 meters. This jump put him at 8th all-time in the Waldorf record books.
On the women's side of things, there were two PR's in the 200 meters. Junior Brandi Peck and freshman Alexa Torres each improved with times of 29.53 and 28.35 respectively. Torres' time put her at 10th all-time in the Waldorf record books.
There were 3 PR's in the 400 meters. Torres ran a time of 1.10.22. Peck ran a time of 1.05.48, and freshman Erica Palisoc ran a time of 1.10.12.
Freshman Eve Seedorff claimed PR's in both the weight throw and shot put with throws of 12.36 and 9.27 respectively. Her weight throw put her in the record books at 2nd all-time. Junior Emma Logeman reached new heights in the weight throw with a throw of 10.81. Freshman Faith Haughwout PR'd in shot put with a throw of 11.16.
Lastly, there were two personal bests claimed in the 800 meters. Sophomore Marissa O'Connor claimed her PR with a time of 2.31.91. Junior Eliza McKown claimed hers with a time of 2.16.16. This time was a new school record for McKown and also was her claim as a national qualifier. McKown is currently ranked 9th in the NAIA.
The Warriors will compete in the GPAC Indoor Championships next weekend in Mitchell, SD.
