Men's Wrestling Competes at Central Invite
PELLA, IA – The Waldorf men's wrestling team had their first tournament of 2024 at the Central Under Armour Invitational on Saturday. The Warriors finished with a 3rd place, two 4th places, and one 6th place.
Gold 133 Malachi Wallway (La Center, WA) was defeated by CaRon Watson of Briar Cliff in the first round by fall, 1:08. In his next dual, Wallway won by fall, 1:53 over Keith Germain of Nebraska Wesleyan. For the 5thplace match, Wallway lost by fall, 6:28 to Quinton Chavez of Nebraska Wesleyan and took 6th place.
Gold 197 Jackson Rickter (SO/Naples, ID) won his first matchup by fall, 3:49 over Brenick Hoppe of Morningside. Rickter then was defeated by Shane Gibson of Minnesota State-Mankato by a technical fall 19-3. In the dual for 3rd place, Rickter was defeated by Christian Balmer of Briar Cliff.
Silver 149 Avery White (FR/Newton, IA) defeated Khadario Earl of Nebraska Wesleyan by fall, 1:50. White was then defeated by Sam Johnson of Simpson by fall, 1:55. In the match for 3rd place, White was defeated by Daryl Easterling of Benedictine College by a major decision, 19-8 and took 4th.
Silver 184 Nehemiah Pemberton (FR/Bettendorf, IA) started off strong by winning his first dual against Dayshuan Albertorio Medi of Nebraska Wesleyan by technical fall, 20-5. Pemberton was defeated by Cage Linton of St. Johns (MN) by technical fall, 17-1. Pemberton bounced back for the 3rd place dual with a win over Luis Salazar of Buena Vista University by decision, 10-8.
