Waldorf Women's Soccer team Fall to Dakota State in Non-Conference Game
FOREST CITY, IA- The Waldorf University Warriors faced a challenging non-conference encounter against Dakota State Trojans at Bolstorff Field. The match ended with a 4-1 victory for the visiting team, despite a strong fight by the Warriors.
The Warriors entered the match and trailed behind Dakota State 2-0 in the first 5 mins. Goalkeeper Abbiegail Michael maintained a crucial role on goal by keeping it 2-0 at halftime. The ladies refused to go down without a fight and continued to fight through until the last minutes.
The Waldorf Warriors switched keepers at halftime taking Abbigail Michael off for Mia Ramirez. Dakota state continued their attack, scoring a goal early in the second half. While maintaining the score 3-1 , there was a late foul in the box making it a penalty kick in favor of the Trojans. Although Mia, knew what side the shot was being placed, she was unable to get a hand on it making the score 4-0 with 15 mins on the clock. As the match was coming to an end, the Warriors fought hard and were determined to stay in the game. Olivia Cross was able to get a goal in the last moments of the match making it a 4-1 game.
Despite the loss, notable performances included Olivia Cross, scoring a goal for the Warriors and goalkeepers Abbigail Michael & Mia Ramirez for playing on the field due to low numbers putting into action what being a Warrior is all about by showing, grit, hard work and resilience out there.
Looking ahead, the Women's Soccer team are set to face Concordia on October 11, 2025, in Seward, Nebraska. The team hopes to leverage the lessons from this match to bounce back in their upcoming games.
