Waldorf WWR Wrestle at Connor Oppenheim open
CRETE, NEB.- The Waldorf University Warriors, representing their college's women's wrestling team, demonstrated notable resilience and skill during a tournament held on December 5, 2025. The tournament saw a mix of challenging moments and significant triumphs for the Warriors as they navigated through the competitive rounds.
Despite a rocky start with many wrestlers being eliminated in the first round, the team managed to muster a stronger performance in the subsequent rounds. Noteworthy contributions came from Missy Araujo and Izzy Urban, who each secured a pin, boosting the team's morale and standing. Skyler Bruno and Mackenzie Gilbert notably stood out; Bruno went 3-2 with the most match time among her teammates, while Gilbert also recorded a 3-2 record and clinched the highest placement for the team by finishing 4th.
Overall, the tournament was a testing ground where many Warriors, after an initial setback, found their rhythm and pulled together to secure the majority of their wins in the later rounds. Waldorf University looks forward to their next event, a face-off against Morningside on December 11, 2025, in Sioux City, Iowa, aiming to build on their current winning record of 1-0.
