Bio

Tyreece Gilder joined the Warrior coaching staff as an assistant coach for the men's wrestling program in the fall of 2012, and took over as head women’s wrestling coach in the fall of 2013 at Waldorf University.

Amidst coaching changes within the Waldorf wrestling program, Gilder has served as interim head coach for both the men’s and women’s programs.

During the 2020-21 season, the Warriors again earned an NAIA Top 20 ranking and saw another grappler earn All-American honors under Gilder's guidance. Six Warriors qualified for the third annual NAIA National Invitational Tournament for a Waldorf team that was ranked as high as No. 18 in the NAIA during the season. At nationals, Diana Dzasezeva earned All-American honors at 130 pounds for the second straight year. The season also marked the first for Waldorf competing as a member of the Heart of America Conference.

In the 2019-20 season, which saw the NAIA National Invitational Tournament canceled because of COVID, the Warriors qualified five wrestlers for the tournament, with Diana Dzasezeva, Maykyla Black and JoJo Hendricks all being named NAIA All-Americans for Waldorf, which earned a top season ranking of No. 17 in the nation. Dzasezeva and Berenice Espino also were named Academic All-Americans for the Warriors.

The 2018-19 season saw women's wrestling earn status as an NAIA recognized sports, and the Warriors reached a high-point of being ranked No. 10 in the NAIA while qualifying seven grapplers for the inaugural NAIA National Invitational Tournament. Akina Yamada and Diana Leyva became the Warriors first two NAIA All-Americans. The season also was the final year Waldorf competed in the WCWA with Akina Yamada and Alaura Couch earning the WCWA Scholar-Athlete Award.

During his time leading the Warrior women's program, Gilder coached three Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) All-Americans, six NAIA All-Americans, two NWCA Scholar-Athletes, and six WCWA Scholar-Athletes.

Gilder is a native of Phoenix, Ariz. where he attended Cesar Chavez High School. While there, Gilder was coached by former Waldorf head coach Tyler Brandt. He had a successful prep career, becoming an Arizona state champion in 2003.

Gilder went on to study at Phoenix College and later returned to the Cesar Chavez wrestling program as an assistant coach. He holds a USA Wrestling Bronze Level coaching certification through the USAW National Coaches Education Program.

Gilder resides in Titonka with his wife, Amber, and their two daughters, Jada and Addie.
