Karvala first; team third at Monmouth Invite
MONMOUTH, Ill. - Amanda Karvala bested the field to claim the individual title at the two-day Monmouth Invitational. She helped Waldorf claim a third place team finish.
Karvala was in a tie for second place after an 8-over par showing on Saturday. In Sunday's second round, Karvala improved to 5-over par to finish with a two-day total of 13-over par; two strokes ahead of Yinan Lu of Marian for the title.
Karvala helped Waldorf to a third place team finish. Illinois College won the team crown with Marian finishing second. Isabella Heintzelman led after the first round wit a 7-over par. She dropped to seventh place overall with a 17-over par on Sunday. Madison Carver placed 14th with Ashley Groesbeck right behind in 15th. Ashlyn Gutierrez finished in 22nd place.
Waldorf next competes Tuesday at the NIACC Invitational.
