Waldorf Women’s Golf opens spring season in Missouri
BOONVILLE, Mo. – Waldorf University's women's golf team was met by cold and breezy conditions for their spring debut at the Central Methodist Spring Invitational held at Hail Ridge Golf Course on March 23-24.
The Warriors finished in 8th place after two circuits of the par-71, 5,982 yard layout with rounds of 450 and 387. Lincoln (MO) finished the tournament with the win, tallying 605 strokes over the course of the event. Individually, sisters Kaathi and Divya Gunasegar of Lincoln shared medalist honors with matching totals of 147 (+5).
Ashlyn Gutierrez paced Waldorf, placing 29th with scores of 97-90, including a solid 42 on the front nine the second day. Shelby Effle finished just behind in 31st, posting a 95-96.
Finishing out the scoring were Laynee Simpson (37th place) and Ciara Barnett (39th place). Lindsay Clouse finished with the team's third-best score on day two after missing the first round with illness.
Looking ahead, Waldorf's men's and women's teams will travel to Maryville, Mo., for the Graceland Invitational held March 27-28 at Mozingo Lake Golf Course.
