Women’s Golf places fourth at Loras
ASBURY, Iowa – Waldorf's women's golf team placed fourth at the Loras Spring Invitational after shooting 434-421. The field of 29 players completed two rounds at The Meadows Golf Club.
Day one kicked off at noon with cloudy and windy conditions as players began the first round at The Meadows Golf Club's par-72, 5,878-yard layout. Play was suspended shortly after 2 p.m. for lightning, and the delay carried on until play resumed at 3:45 p.m. Rain continued for the remainder of the round, creating temporary accumulations of water throughout the course.
Sophomore Shelby Effle claimed the top spot for the Warriors, shooting 99-101 (+58) to finish in 19th.
Finishing just behind Effle was Ashlyn Gutierrez, who posted 110-99 (+65) to rise two spots on day two and claim 21st place.
Lindsay Clouse ended the tournament in 23rd, carding 108-111 (+75).
Laynee Simpson was six shots behind Clouse to round out the scoring. Simpson shot 115-110 (+81).
The Warrior women will travel to Indianola, Iowa on Wednesday, April 15, to play in the Storm Spring Classic hosted by Simpson College. This will be the final regular season event before the GPAC Championships, which will be played at Dakota Dunes Country Club in Dakota Dunes, South Dakota April 27-28.
