Warriors Battle Against Yellowjackets for Doubleheader
INDIANOLA, Iowa – The Waldorf softball team traveled to play Graceland University for a doubleheader at neutral site Simpson College. The Warriors lost both games, 0-1 and 2-6.
For the first game, the Yellowjackets scored the only run in the bottom of the 6th inning to win the game.
The Warriors finished with five hits, two more than the Yellowjackets. Brooke Hickey (SO/Adel, IA) had two of the hits with three at bats. Alex Mathers (SR/Greene, IA) pitched all six innings and finished with two strikeouts and zero walks.
In the second game, the Yellowjackets took a 0-3 lead in the bottom of the 3rd inning.
The Warriors scored their first run in the 4th inning with an RBI single from Kassidy Elyea (JR/Sioux Falls, SD) allowing Maddie Dalke (JR/Medford, OR) to score. The Yellowjackets extended their lead by one in the bottom of the inning.
Hickey scored the second run for the Warriors in the top of the 5th inning from Paige Pierson's (SO/Cambridge, IA) double.
The Yellowjackets closed out the game with a two-run homerun to win 2-6.
The Warriors will open NSAA conference play on Friday, March 24th for a four game weekend series as the home team at Clarion High School in Clarion, Iowa (due to field conditions) against Dakota State. First pitch is at 2 p.m
