Softball Splits with College of Saint Mary on Senior Day
FOREST CITY, IA - The Warriors split with the College of Saint Mary on senior day. They won game one on a walk off with a score of 6-5 and lost game two with a score of 7-6.
Game One:
The Warriors scored their first run in the bottom of the third inning. Kylie Bates singled up the middle and scored on a Reagan Ridout single to center field. They would score again in the bottom of the fourth. Avery Mauldin singled to left field, followed by a Kenady Ridout single to center field, and a Sophia Asimakopoulos single to right field to bring in one. The Flames were kept scoreless until the top of the fifth where they scored one, and scored two more in the top of the 6th. The Warriors would put another on the board in the bottom of the 6th. Gabby Bierly doubled to left center field, followed by a double down the right field line by Hailey Michalik to tie the game at three. The Flames scored two runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead. With two outs in the bottom of the seventh, Reagan Ridout walked, Avery Mauldin reached on an infield single, Bierly walked, and Kenady Ridout hit a walk-off bases clearing double to win the game.
Makenzie Cope got her second win in the circle. She threw 0.2 innings, giving up no runs on no hits and two strikeouts.
Game Two:
In game two, the Warriors took the lead in the bottom of the first scoring the first run of the game. Reagan Ridout walked to start the game, and Kenady Ridout doubled off the centerfield fence to bring in the first run. Both teams scored one in the second inning. Isabella Bencivenga started in the inning with a walk and scored on a basehit to centerfield from Reagan Ridout. The Flames would tie the game in the top of the third scoring one of their own. They scored 3 more runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead 5-2. The Warriors got one back in their half of the fifth. Avery Mauldin reached on error, followed by a Gabby Bierly single to center field, who would then score on a single to right field from Kenady Ridout.
The Flames were kept scoreless in the top of the 6th, and the Warriors scored 3 more in the bottom of the inning to take the lead 6-5. Savannah Lyford reached on error, followed by a Dionne Lopez game tying homerun to left field. Reagan Ridout reached on error to get the inning going again, and Avery Mauldin sac bunted to move her over. Gabby Bierly drove in the go ahead run with a double to right center field.
The Flames would score two more unanswered runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead ane eventually the win.
Jaycee Plath took the loss in the circle. In 3.0 innings, she gave up 4 earned runs on 7 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts.
The Warriors will be back in action on Wednesday April 22nd for their last home doubleheader against Morningside.
