Softball Drops Two Hard Fought Games at Home
FOREST CITY, IA - Waldorf softball played a double header against Dakota Wesleyan at home on Wednesday, April 8th. Despite some great efforts, they lost both games. They lost game one 6-0 and game two 13-7.
Despite no runs in game 1, there were some outstanding offensive performances.
Reagan Ridout went 1 for 2 with a walk.
Gabby Bierly went 2 for 3 and Jaycee Plath went 1 for 3.
Reagan Ridout got the loss in the circle, going a full 7 innings. She gave up 6 runs on 6 hits, 3 walks, and 2 strikeouts.
Game two was a little more exciting.
The Tigers took an early 3-0 lead in the first. Waldorf scored 2 in the bottom of the second. Avery Mauldin singled to center field. Isabella Bencivenga drew a walk, Reagan Ridout doubled, and Jaycee Plath singled up the middle to bring in two.
More scoring occurred in the fourth inning. Isabella Bencivenga doubled to right center. Ridout singled to the left side. Jaycee Plath brought in another run with a base hit to right field.
In the fifth, Dionne Lopez drew a walk, Sophia Asimakopoulos drew a walk, and Bencivenga also drew a walk. Ridout singled to the left side, and Jaycee Plath reached on an error that would bring in to runs. The score would be 7-6 after this inning, with the Tigers having the lead.
The Tigers scored 6 more runs in the last two innings, and the Warriors only scored one in their half of the seventh. Asimakopoulos reached on error, Ridout singled, and Gabby Bierly singled to the left side to bring in the final run for the Warriors.
Makenzie Cope took the loss in the circle. She threw 4.2 innings giving up 7 runs on 9 hits, 0 walks, and a strikeout.
The Warriors will be back in action this weekend for a double header at Briarcliff on Friday and a doubleheader at Mount Marty on Saturday.
