Mentink, Pierson, & Weston Named as Scholar-Athletes

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics released the 2023 Daktronics NAIA Softball Scholar-Athletes. The Warriors have three athletes named to the list.

McKenna Mentink (SR/Mason City, IA) is majoring in Elementary Education, Paige Pierson (SO/Cambridge, IA) is majoring in Biology/Secondary Education, and Janessa Weston (SO/Salt Lake City, UT) is majoring in Business Finance.

"So proud of these ladies for being named scholar athletes. Their commitment to the classroom is exactly what we look for in our players. They set a great example for our program," said Head Coach Justin Uhlenhopp.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale, must appear on the eligibility certificate for the sport and have attended one full year at said institution.
