Adams Signs with Waldorf Hockey
FOREST CITY, IA -- The Waldorf Hockey Team continues to add talent and experience in preparation for the 2023-24 season. Head Coach Mike Heitkamp announced the signing of ACHA hockey transfer Jordan "JJ" Adams to the Warriors' growing recruiting class Friday.
Adams took part in Dakota College at Bottineau's run to the semifinals of the 2022 ACHA D2 national championship. The forward will join former teammates Jordan Berschiminsky and Chase Haberman, who each transferred prior to the 2022-23 season. The 6' 3" forward will add talent, size, and grit for the Warrior hockey team. Adams played his junior hockey in the Kootenay International Junior Hockey League (KIJHL) for Castlegar before heading to Dakota College at Bottineau.
"JJ is a bigger and athletic skater with good compete level," Heitkamp said. "This has been a long time coming. We have been working on getting JJ here for at least a year. He will be playing big minutes for us, and we will be looking to him to use his size and skill to create scoring opportunities. He has friendly faces around the locker room this year and we look to him for leadership with our younger guys coming in this year. We were a soft team to play against last year at times. Coach Prater and I were very selective on getting players like JJ that will be tough to play against each weekend."
Adams joins a growing incoming class as Waldorf strives to take another step forward next season. The Warriors recently finished a 13-win campaign, the program's most victories as an ACHA Division 1 program. The 2023-24 schedule will be released soon. The Warriors will be playing their most difficult schedule this year with at least sixteen games against ACHA Top 25 teams, including a home and away series against the defending ACHA national champions, Minot State University. Waldorf will begin its 2023-24 season in September.
