Warriors Battle Against Jacks, Mood-Flagg Earns Hat Trick
BOTTINEAU, N.D. – The Waldorf D1 hockey team competed in the second game of the weekend series against the Dakota College of Bottineau Jacks on Sunday afternoon. The Warriors started to make a comeback in the 2nd period but were ultimately defeated 6-4. Austin Mood-Flagg finished with a hat trick.
1st Period: The Jacks started the game off strong by scoring three straight goals. Austin Mood-Flagg (SR/Slave Lake, Alberta) stopped the run with a goal at the 7-minute mark, assisted by Luke Nemeth (FR/Ames, IA). The Jacks closed out the period with another goal, taking a 4-1 lead.
2nd Period: Mood-Flagg scored his second goal within the first minute of the period, JJ Adams (JR/Rocky Mountain House, AB) was credited the assist. Jake Lindblom (SR/Pine City, MN) kept the momentum by finding the back of the net with Jordan Ribbink (SR/Perth, Ontario) on the assist. Waldorf goaltender Vaughn Holbeche (FR/Lloydminster, AB) and the defense shut out the Jacks in the second.
3rd Period: The Jacks scored their final two goals in the first five minutes of the period. Mood-Flagg scored his third goal, unassisted, earning himself a hat trick. The Warriors lost 6-4.
Next up for the Warriors is a weekday game against Iowa State University on Tuesday, January 9th in Mason City, Iowa. Puck drop is at 6 pm.
