No. 1 Beavers Skate Past Warriors
FOREST CITY, IA – The Warriors showed better results and improvement on the second series against the best. No. 1 Minot State broke open the Saturday men's hockey meeting against Waldorf University with four goals in the first 10 minutes of the second period on the way to a 7-0 victory.
The top-rated Beavers (26-5) followed a pair of first frame goals in a 2:36 time span for a 2-0 lead. The visitors expanded the margin with the four goals in the first 10 minutes of the second and added the final score right before the second intermission. Waldorf posted its first period shutout for the final 20 minutes.
The Warriors showed better against the Beavers than the first series in Minnesota back in mid-October. In that pair of matches, Minot State claimed 9-1 and 13-0 scores, while Waldorf fell Friday night by a 5-0 final before Saturday's ending.
The two Waldorf goalies, Vaughn Holbeche and Jordan Berschiminsky, combined for 41 saves in the net.
Waldorf returns to the road for the next series starting next Friday night (Feb. 9) in a 7:30 p.m. match at Midland University.
