Warriors Fall Short in 6-1 Loss to McKendree Bearcats
O'FALLON, IL – The Waldorf D1 hockey team returned to the ice for the second game of the weekend series against the McKendree Bearcats on Saturday afternoon. The Warriors suffered a 6-1 defeat.
The Bearcats started the game by scoring two goals in the first period; one of the goals was scored short-handed. The Warriors had 14 shots on goal.
McKendree had a high scoring second period by four straight goals. The Warriors were held to nine shots on goal.
Morgan Sweeney (SR/Hastings, MN) found the back of the net, unassisted, for the Warriors in the third period. The Warriors had two goalies in net. Jordan Berschiminsky (JR/Saskatoon, Saskatchewan) was in goal for the first two periods and had 21 saves. Vaughn Holbeche (FR/Lloydminister, AB) played in the third and finished with six saves.
Next up for the D1 hockey team is a weekday away game against Iowa State University on Tuesday, October 31st. Puck drop is at 7 pm.
