Warriors Fall to No. 18 Bruins
FOREST CITY, IA – The Waldorf volleyball team hosted the No. 18 Bellevue Bruins for a conference game on Thursday evening. The Warriors suffered a 3-0 loss.
Set 1: The Bruins got off to an early 4-0 start. A kill from Charlotte Wright (SR/Porter, MN) stopped the run. The Warriors by most of five points, 11-16. Kaylee Kidd (SR/Roscoe, IL) got a service ace and a block by Alicia Brandt and Anna Longhenry (Fenton, IA) kept them in the game. The Warriors scored three straight to tie the game at 23 and forced Bellevue to call a timeout. The Bruins finished the set with a kill and ace to win 25-23. The Warriors finished with a team high of 14 kills.
Set 2: Bellevue took the second set, 25-13. The Bruins held the Warriors to just five kills compared to their own 14.
Set 3: The Warriors made a strong push towards the end of set but were unable to stop the Bruins from winning 25-17. The Warriors finished with 11 kills and the Bruins had a match high of 18.
Longhenry finished with a team high of nine kills and three block assists. Kenzie Kidd had six and Wright tallied five. Reinya Balderson (FR/Marshfield, WI) had 12 assists and Kaylee Kidd (SR/Roscoe, IL) finished with 11 digs.
The Warriors are back at Hanson Fieldhouse tomorrow, October 20th for another conference game against the Dakota State Trojans. First serve is at 7 pm.
