Waldorf Volleyball Drops GPAC Opener to Dakota Wesleyan
MITCHELL, S.D. — In their first GPAC conference matchup of the season, the Waldorf University Warriors took to the road to face the Dakota Wesleyan Tigers. Despite a determined effort, the Warriors came up short in a hard-fought 3-1 loss.
The match opened with a close first set, where the Warriors overcame a slow start to keep the score tight, ultimately falling 21-25. They responded strongly in the second set, showing resilience and securing a 25-21 win, marking the high point of the match. However, the tide turned in the third and fourth sets, with the Warriors unable to regain their footing, falling 9-25 and 19-25, respectively.
Key players from the Warriors showcased significant efforts despite the loss. Kaylin Koch led with 9 kills, followed by Peyton Klooster with 8 kills and a standout hitting percentage of .571. Klooster was also noted for her solo block during the match. Defense was strong with McKenna Marlow securing 25 digs and Ashley Kurschner adding 16. Solid serving saw Koch, Gianna Sifuentes, McKenna Metzger, and Reinya Balderson registering aces, tallying up to 5 for the team.
With a current record of 8-1, the Warriors aim to bounce back on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, against Dordt at their home opener in Forest City, IA. JV will play at 6:00 p.m., and Varsity will play at 7:30 p.m.
