Waldorf Volleyball Falls Short in Five-Set Battle Against Dordt
FOREST CITY, Iowa - In a thrilling five-set battle, the Waldorf University Warriors volleyball team narrowly dropped their conference home opener to Dordt University (IA) on September 10, 2025, in Forest City, Iowa. The tight match ended with a 3-2 victory for Dordt.
Dordt edged out Waldorf in a nail-biting first set, 25-23. The Warriors bounced back impressively, taking the second and third sets 25-19 and 27-25. However, Dordt regained momentum in the fourth set, winning 25-22, and carried it into the decisive fifth, clinching the match 15-12.
Several Warriors delivered standout performances. Anna Longhenry led the offense with 14 kills, hitting .345, followed closely by Emily Goodner with 13 and Kaylin Koch with 12. Peyton Klooster made her presence felt on both sides of the net, recording 9 total blocks and 9 kills on 18 attempts with an impressive .500 hitting percentage.
On defense, McKenna Marlow anchored the back row with 20 digs, while Ashley Kurschner contributed 10. Setters Reinya Balderson and McKenna Metzger effectively ran the offense, tallying 29 and 12 assists, respectively.
Waldorf also impressed at the service line, with Klooster notching 3 aces. Balderson and Rina Maiava added 2 aces each.
Despite the tough loss, the Warriors boast a strong 8-2 record and aim to bounce back in their next matchup against Morningside on Saturday, September 13, in Sioux City, Iowa. JV plays at 1:30 p.m. and Varsity is to follow at 3:00 p.m.
