Waldorf Volleyball Faces Loss Against Briar Cliff
FOREST CITY, Iowa - In a challenging conference match on September 17, 2025, the Waldorf University Warriors were defeated by Briar Cliff University with a final score of 3-1. The match took place at the home venue in Forest City, Iowa, where Waldorf fought hard but was unable to secure the win.
The Warriors kicked off the match strongly, taking the first set 25-15, showing dynamic offensive and defensive skills. However, the tide turned in the following sets. Briar Cliff took the second set 25-22, and continued their momentum by winning the third and fourth sets with identical scores of 25-20. The consecutive losses in these sets handed Briar Cliff the overall victory for the night.
Notably, several Warriors delivered commendable performances. Anna Longhenry led the team with 12 kills, followed by Sydney Kidd with 9, both of whom contributed significantly to the team's strong initial showing. Jalyn Hovenga not only added 8 kills but was also formidable at the net with 4 blocks and hit an impressive .438. The defensive efforts were led by Ashley Kurschner and McKenna Marlow, each with 13 digs.
Gianna Sifuentes and Reinya Balderson played key roles in setting and serving, with Sifuentes scoring an ace and notching 16 assists while Balderson led with 22 assists. A highlight moment came in set four when Kaci Johnson entered the game and immediately made an impact with a kill.
Looking ahead, the Warriors are eager to regroup and bring their best as they take on the Northwestern College Raiders at home in Forest City, Iowa, on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. JV will begin at 6 p.m., and Varsity is to follow at approximately 7:30 p.m. With a solid 8-4 season record, the team is determined to turn the page and build momentum moving forward.
