Warriors Compete at Avila for Doubleheader
The Waldorf baseball team returned to the field for a non-conference weekend series against Avila University. The Warriors had a doubleheader today and dropped both.
The Eagles scored five runs in the bottom of the 1st inning, three of the runs were unearned.
Anthony Hibl (JR/Sharon, WI) singled to left field allowing Nathan Westfield (SO/Indian Harbor Beach, FL) and Atticus Smith (SO/Kent, WA) to score in the top of the 4th to get runs on the road for the Warriors.
The Eagles scored the final run with a homerun to take the win 2-6.
Ryan Meyer (JR/Gilbrtr, AZ) pitched all six innings, having eight strikeouts and one walk.
For the second game, the Eagles came out even stronger by scoring eight runs in the first two innings.
Ryan Webster (SO/Las Vegas, NV) got things rolling for the Warriors by getting an RBI single having Zach Meyer (JR/Gilbert, AZ) score in the top of the 3rd. Davis Churchman (SR/Ankeny, IA) hit a homerun in the 5th inning.
The Eagles added two more runs in the bottom of the 5th to give them 10.
Luis Rivera (JR/Panama City, Panama) got a sacrifice fly out RBI allowing Webster to get the third run in the top of the 6th. The Eagles won 3-10.
Jamie Olson (SO/Menifee, CA) and Gavin Williams (SO/Beaumont, CA) pitched two innings each, and Kade Hobbs (SO/Buffalo Center, IA) and Evan Kroll (JR/South Bend, IN) pitched one a piece. Williams had a team-high of three strikeouts.
The Warriors will take on the Eagles tomorrow for one 9 inning game at 12 p.m.
