Waldorf Baseball Splits Against Northwestern in Day One
FOREST CITY, Iowa. - On Thursday, the Waldorf Baseball team played a doubleheader series against the Northwestern Raiders in Forest City, Iowa.
In Game 1, Waldorf edged out Northwestern with a 6-5 victory. The Warriors faced tough competition but battled for the win. Key players such as Rylee Rauch, Cameren Rindone, Lucas Romero, Drake Fetters, Ryan Webster, and Tyler Wytulka all crossed the plate to contribute to the final score of 6-5. Tyler Wytulka was the standout, slamming a crucial 2-run homer in the 5th inning to tie the game and later adding another run.
Lucas Romero and Atticus Smith helped in extending Waldorf's lead. Romero's RBI double and Smith's 2 RBI single were pivotal moments that solidified the Warriors' win. Jack Kamalski, the starting pitcher, also played a vital role in limiting the Northwestern offense, guiding the Warriors through tense innings.
In Game 2, the Warriors lost 7-4 but showed determination, led by the offensive efforts of Rylee Rauch, Cameren Rindone, Lucas Romero, and Atticus Smith, who all managed to score runs during the game. Atticus Smith notably had a standout performance, hitting a double to left field, driving in two runs. Smith's contribution was further highlighted with two RBIs noted in the game. Other key offensive plays included RBI singles from Ryan Webster and Isaiah Martin, which added to the intensity of the contest. Waldorf's starting pitcher, Seth Mifflin, opened the game, although the team ultimately fell short against a strong Northwestern lineup.
Despite the loss, there were positive takeaways for the Warriors. Ryan Webster displayed excellent on-base skills by stealing a base, maintaining pressure on Northwestern's defense.
The Warriors are scheduled to face the Northwestern team again on April 4, 2025, at 12 pm and 2:30 pm for Day 2 of the series.
