Waldorf Baseball Closes Season on a Win Against Northwestern (IA)
ORANGE CITY, Iowa. Waldorf closed its 2026 season with a split on Saturday in Orange City, Iowa, falling 3-2 to Northwestern in the opener before answering with a 13-7 win in the second game of the doubleheader.
The Warriors were a run short in the first game despite a strong start from Brandon Berg. Berg worked seven innings and allowed just two runs while striking out four Red Raiders, keeping Waldorf within reach throughout the opener. Offensively, Andrew Herrin and AJ Toulouse accounted for the Warriors' two runs batted in, but Northwestern did enough to edge out the one-run decision.
That narrow loss gave way to a much bigger offensive showing in the second game, when Waldorf broke through for 13 runs to secure the split. Jack Kamalski provided one of the key swings of the afternoon with a home run, and Dylan Battye drove in three runs as the Warriors' lineup found its rhythm. After managing only two runs in the opener, Waldorf generated the steady run production it needed to take control in the nightcap.
Keaton Haines delivered the key work on the mound in the second game. Pitching three innings in relief, Haines earned the win after allowing only one run on one hit. His outing helped stabilize the game and allowed Waldorf to protect its offensive surge against a Northwestern club that scored seven runs in the finale.
The day reflected both sides of Waldorf's roster, a strong pitching effort in a tight first game and a more complete offensive performance in the second. The split left the Warriors at 1-1 on the day and brought the season to a close after another road trip to face the Red Raiders under clear skies in Orange City. Waldorf closed the season with a 13-37 record, and a 5-23 mark in GPAC play.
