Waldorf Baseball Splits Games Against Midland
FREMONT, Neb. - Waldorf Baseball traveled to Fremont, Nebraska on Saturday to face conference opponent, the Midland University Warriors.
In Game 1, Waldorf started off strong by holding Midland scoreless through three innings. In the first inning, Waldorf started with a home run by Cameron Rindone, who brought Lucas Romero home to put the Warriors ahead 2-0. They would extend their lead by three more with runs by Dylan Battye, Rylee Rauch, and Mason Smith in the top of the second to make it a 5-0 game. Both teams would be scoreless in the third, and Waldorf would continue their run streak in the fourth inning with another home run by Rindone, bringing home Seth Mifflin. Midland would score their first run at the bottom of the fourth. Both teams would be quiet until the top of the sixth, where Waldorf's Romero would hit a home run to extend their lead to 8-1. Midland would hold Waldorf scoreless in the seventh inning while scoring four runs of their own. It wasn't enough to overtake the Warriors, who won 8-5.
Rindone led the way for the Warriors with two home runs and four RBIs. Romero had one home run and three RBIs.
In Game 2, Midland would hold Waldorf to one run in the third inning by Mifflin. Midland took the game 11-1.
The Warriors host their first home game of the season in Forest City, Iowa on Tuesday, March 25 at 3pm against the Viterbo University V-Hawks in a non-conference game.
