Waldorf Baseball Sweeps Hastings in Friday Doubleheader, Rides Strong Pitching and 17-Run Nightcap
FOREST CITY, Iowa - Waldorf completed a doubleheader sweep of Hastings on Friday, beating the Broncos 2-1 in the opener before breaking loose for a 17-5 win in the second game at home.
The decisive work started on the mound in Game 1, where Jack Kamalski delivered a complete game over seven innings. Kamalski allowed just one earned run, scattered limited damage and struck out seven as the Warriors made two early runs stand up. Mason Smith and Cameren Rindone accounted for Waldorf's offense in the opener, each driving in a run while the Warriors finished with seven hits in the 2-1 victory.
That first game stayed tight throughout, but Waldorf had enough behind Kamalski's control of the strike zone and steady defense. In a game where every baserunner mattered, the Warriors did just enough offensively and then leaned on their starter to close it out. Kamalski never gave Hastings much room to build momentum, and Waldorf turned a narrow lead into the day's first win.
The second game looked much different. Waldorf's lineup erupted for 17 runs on 16 hits in a seven-inning rout, turning the nightcap into an offensive showcase. Ryland Humphrey led the way at the plate with three hits, four RBIs and two runs scored, helping the Warriors separate quickly and keep pressure on the Broncos throughout the afternoon.
Waldorf also got quality work from its pitching staff in the second game. Adrian Nevarez and Seamus Ryley handled the mound duties, with Ryley providing one of the sharpest stretches of the day. He allowed only two hits and no runs across 3 2/3 innings, giving the Warriors firm control once the offense had built its advantage.
Played under clear skies in Forest City with temperatures in the mid-50s, the doubleheader gave Waldorf a complete performance on both sides of the ball. The Warriors won a tight opener behind Kamalski's complete game, then overwhelmed Hastings in the second game with relentless production from the lineup, finishing Friday with a two-game sweep by scores of 2-1 and 17-5.
