Dordt Sweeps Waldorf in Saturday Doubleheader
SIOUX CENTER, Iowa. Dordt completed a doubleheader sweep of Waldorf University on Saturday in Sioux Center, Iowa, pulling away for a 9-5 win in the opener before finishing the day with a 14-7 victory in the second game.
The Warriors stayed within reach in Game 1 and got run-producing swings from Cameren Rindone and Cameron Bailey, who each drove in runs. Waldorf also received a steady start from Jack Kamalski, who worked four innings and allowed six hits. Dordt did enough offensively to create separation over the course of the game, handing Waldorf the 9-5 defeat in the opener.
Kamalski was again at the center of Waldorf's effort in the second game, this time from the batter's box. He finished with three hits and three RBIs, leading the Warriors in both categories as Waldorf tried to answer Dordt's offense. The Defenders, though, kept pressure on throughout the game and finished off the sweep with a 14-7 win.
Waldorf also got a strong relief appearance from Axton Beenken in the nightcap. Beenken held Dordt scoreless over one inning and struck out two, giving the Warriors a clean inning on the mound during a game in which offense was at a premium for both sides.
The doubleheader was played under clear skies with temperatures reaching 71 degrees in Sioux Center, where windy conditions also were part of the afternoon. Despite the two losses, Waldorf had productive individual performances at the plate and on the mound, with Kamalski contributing in both games, Rindone and Bailey supplying RBIs in the opener, and Beenken turning in an effective relief outing in Game 2.
Waldorf will look to carry those individual bright spots into its next outing after the Warriors dropped both ends of the Saturday twin bill against Dordt.
