Warriors Come Up Short in Battle with Iowa State
AMES, Iowa - The Warriors men's hockey team couldn't pull off the sweep Saturday night, losing a battle to Iowa State 4-3.
The Warriors found the penalty box seven times in the first period. This allowed Iowa State to score two power play goal taking a 2-0 lead. Late in the first, Zak Molstad made it 2-1 with the lone assist going to Art Laurynavichus. The Warriors would tie it up in the second with a nice end to end rush by Dom Toews. Iowa State would take the 3-2 lead in the second, scoring on the power play. Midway in the third, Iowa State scored off a rush to make it 4-2. The Warriors would make it interesting by scoring when they pulled the goalie for an extra attacker. While the Warriors would throw ten shots on net in the last minute trying to tie it up, the Iowa State goaltender shut it down.
The Warriors will take on conference member McKendree University this Thursday, October 9 at 7pm in Mason City, Iowa.
