D1 Men's Hockey Fall to Ranked #18 Midland University
FREMONT, NE- The Waldorf Warriors fell to nationally ranked #18 Midland University on their second game of this weekends series with a final score of 3-1.
The Warriors had penalty issues that led to two Midland first period power play goals. After being run into a few times, starting goalie Matt Loney was taken out of the game due to injury. Andrew Tworkowski stepped in at the start of the second period and held Midland at bay only giving up one goal in the second period. Peyton Inks scored his first collegiate goal with assists going to Arturas Laurynavichus and Dominic Toews.
Waldorf tried to mount a comeback in the third period but was too late. "It was very unfortunate that we didn't show up tonight with the same level of competition as we did on Friday. While this team is talented, we need to work hard every shift. The loss would've been greater if it wasn't for our goaltenders tonight. Andy did a great job in after Matt's injury," commented head coach Mike Heitkamp.
The Warriors will have next weekend off before traveling to McKendree for two MCH games.
